1 I Want to be a Police Officer
4th grade patrol Dominik , Cristian, and Crystal

2 The 4th grade students of Del Rey have seven question to answer each month. We learn about a career each month and this month we have to study sheriffs. We researched on the internet to find information about sheriffs. We also invited a guest speaker to come and help us with the questions. Then we went on a field trip. We made power points to show what we have learned.

3 How much education will I need for this career?
You need to pass high school and you may have to go through some college.

4 What are the qualification I need?
You have to be drug free . You have to be 21 or older. You have to get good grades at school. You need to have honesty. You must be a U.S citizen. You have to have a driver’s license. You cannot have a criminal record. You have to be in good physical condition and have good eye sight too.

5 How much can I expect to earn when I begin my career?
Being a sheriff you can earn up to $20.21-$28.00 per hour plus benefits and retirement .

6 What is the maximum amount of money I can earn?
A jailer can earn $ 100,000 per year with over time.

7 What would my main duties or responsibilities be?
Your duties would be to arrest criminals. Another duty would be to provide public safety.

8 What affect would I have on the community
Giving tickets to speeders. Also to take criminals out of the community.

9 Will there still be a need for this job in 2017?
As long as there are criminals, there will always be a need for law enforcement.
