1 College in the High School English 101 February 1 and 2 AGENDA: INTRODUCTIONS CLASS NORMS INDEPENDENT READING ASSIGNMENT Goal: to get to know each other and the purpose of this class, set class norms.

2 Homework 1. Find a book to read that is at or above your reading level. 2. Bring the title of the book to me on Wednesday or Thursday for approval. 3. Read this book on your own. 4. Prepare a brief presentation on your book. These will be presented the week before Spring Break.

4 Introductions Tell us the following: 1. Your name and grade. 2. Who your English teacher was last semester. 3. The best and worst thing about your mini-term class or Service and Study Tour.

5 Write on a piece of paper Your name Who your English teacher was last semester Do you have internet access at home? Will you be able to get your own texts? Or will you need to borrow them? What is your biggest problem/issues/obstacle with English class?

6 Class Norms How do you need others to behave so you can feel safe to learn, work, grow, and thrive in this class? ◦Write your answer to this question. ◦Share with others at your table. ◦As a group come up with one or two norms for the class.
