Social – ideas, questions and knowledge shared Digital media – usually audio, increasingly video, PDFs Accessible - Internet distributed, downloadable media Flexible (time and location neutral) – hence 'time shifting', 'space shifting', mobile, flexible learning Device neutral - media players, both software and hardware ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Optional characteristics Automatically delivered - Simple syndication technology (RSS + media enclosures) that allows interested parties to subscribe to published content ('feeds') from a particular supplier Managed by the user - aggregation software designed to gather feeds

7. Activity 1 – just 3 minutes Work alone Use the form to describe something you or a colleague is already doing or an idea that has already started to form for you. Each person needs to produce at least 1 idea each in this activity More ideas are better Come up with wacky but descriptive Titles Don't worry about spelling, etc! Just get the ideas down on the form

8. Activity 1b – 5 minutes each Cryptically, start to tell the person next to you about 1 or more of your ideas Listen and try to guess the idea Make a note of what you thought they were going to say Develop this new idea together
