Spanggaard BE-BI(3)RadWG Meeting 6/3 - 2012 Multi-wire Proportional Chamber MWPC are widely used in the experimental areas for profile measurement. The yellow gas window of the chamber can be seen inside a shielding box, here presented in the out-position. The local electronics is located on the purple support 60 centimeter below the beam. Spanggaard BE-BI(6)RadWG Meeting 6/3 - 2012 Gas Electron Multiplier 1. Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) are using the same local electronics as Multi-wire Proportional Chambers. New GEM detectors are scheduled to replace MWPC on the M2 beam line.
7
Spanggaard BE-BI(7)RadWG Meeting 6/3 - 2012 MWPC Local Electronics The local electronics contains integrators for each wire of the chamber and the integrated charge is multiplexed and send to the acquisition system on the surface, often through several hundred meters of cable.

Spanggaard BI/EA(10)Section Meeting 12/2 - 2012 Irradiation of XWCM local electronics -Since many years we are suffering radiation damage of local electronics for the XWCM located upstream in TT83. Many different types of shielding have been tried with poor success and we have now developed a new Rad-Hard local electronics that we would like to test in an environment that simulates an accelerated stay upstream in TT83 next to TCC2: -We therefore propose to install an (operational) GEM along with its local electronics inside the H4-IRRAD facility for this start-up!

Spanggaard BE-BI(11)RadWG Meeting 6/3 - 2012 Proposed tests on H4 1. Implementation of a new profile reading immediately upstream to the secondary target. (profile readings until it dies). 2. Irradiation of the new local electronics. 3. Comparative irradiation of old electronics. 4. Long term irradiation of the new GEM detector for M2. 5. Measure dose rate at XWCM.061.102. All these test can be done parasitically !
