3 JOBS What types of jobs were available to the Ancient Egyptians? It was not just building work relating to the construction of pyramids and monuments. The golden age of the Ancient Egyptians spanned over 3000 years during which the Ancient Egyptians lived in a well ordered society which was administered by people with jobs relating to the government of the country, law enforcement, judges and courts. All classes of society paid taxes which in turn paid for the government and army - more Ancient Egyptian jobs. The jobs undertaken by Ancient Egyptian scribes revolved around work relating to the government of Egypt they were the civil servants of Ancient Egypt! The Ancient Egyptian religion also required various types of people undertaking the jobs related to treligion and running the temples. 5 CLOTHING

6 GOVERNMENT Egypt is governed under the construction of 1971 as amended. Executive power is held by the president who is the head of state and is elected by popular wrote for us. 6/ term with no term limits the head of government is the prime minister. There is a bicameral legislature. The peoples assembly has 454 seats 444 members are elected by popular vote and 10 are appointed by the president. All serve 5 year terms.

7 pyramids Like the Sumerians at the same time the Egyptians around 3000-2500 BC devoted a lot of energy to building big buildings. The Pyramids are one of the most impressive monuments of the ancient world and you can still visit today. You might think that their might be a lot of chambers in the pyramids but you are wrong! Their only 4 chambers and they are called the Kings Chamber, the Queens Chamber, the Main Chamber and the Under Ground TRESAURE Chamber.

8 Geography The ancient Egyptians thought of Egypt as being divided into two types of land, the 'black land' and the 'red land'. The 'black land' was the fertile land on the banks of the Nile. The ancient Egyptians used this land for growing their crops. This was the only land in ancient Egypt that could be farmed because a layer of rich, black silt was deposited there every year after the Nile flooded.silt The 'red land' was the barren desert that protected Egypt on two sides. These deserts separated ancient Egypt from neighboring countries and invading armies. They also provided the ancient Egyptians with a source for precious metals and semi-precious stones.barrenprecious

9 Pharaohs The Kings of Egypt were not called Pharaohs by the ancient Egyptians. This word was used by the Greeks and Hebrews, and today is commonly used for the ancient Kings of Egypt. We really do not know how many kings ruled in Egypt, for at times in its ancient past the country was split up, and there were at least several kings at the same time. There was also probably kings who ruled regions of Egypt before recorded history, and in fact, several ancient historians record legendary Pharaohs who became Egyptian gods.

10 Farming For 3-4 months every year the farm land of Egypt was flooded by the Nile river.As soon as the water receded, leaving behind a layer of fertile river silt,work began. Land needed crops included wheat,barley, flax, fruit, vegetables such as onions, garlic salad vegetables peas linty and beans.
