2 PRIMARY RESEARCH IS…  Research based on firsthand information.  Rather than using evidence from books to support their ideas, primary researchers actively collect fresh information about a topic.  Example: If you poll your neighborhood to see which television program are most popular, you are collecting primary research, or gathering new evidence.

3 DIFFERENT TYPES OF PRIMARY RESEARCH Primary research articles are often found in books, magazines, and newspapers that focus on scientific research and discovery. Examples of primary research articles are medical reports in journals, such as the Journal of the American Medical Associations, or accounts of travels and discoveries in faraway places such as the articles in National Geographic.
