1 Station 1 - Proportions Solve each proportion for x. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9.

2 Station 2 – Similar Figures
For each, state the scale factor and find the value of each variable. 1. 3 2. y 89° 14 y 4 z 4 18 27 z 8 x 89° 47° 18 10 6 3. 4. z 95° y y 96° 10 15 12 6 5 x 10 x 9 96° 95° 8 4 6

3 Station 3 – Are the triangles similar? Why?
Directions: Determine whether the triangles are similar. If they are, name the two similar triangles and give a reason (AA Similarity, SAS Similarity or SSS Similarity). If you cannot prove that they are similar, circle no conclusion. 1. 2. M 12 E A G K 27 5 18 12 6 18 4 L C 14 B J 21 2 D F H 8 3. 4. S N R 6 L 8 M T 12 Q 9 P V W

4 Station 4 – Using similar triangles.
For each, state the scale factor and find the value of each variable. 1. 2. 13 y 49° 8 x y 8 5 x 6 6 3 3. 4. 6 12 40° 15 8 10 110° 10 y x 40° 12 5 x y

5 Station 5 – Proportions Word Problems
Show Work! Label! 1. If 6 pounds of apples cost $9, then how much would 21 pounds of apples cost? 2. The scale on a map is 1 inch equals 5 feet. What is the distance between two points on the map that are 8 ½ inches apart on the map? 3. The angles in a triangle follow the ratio 2:4:6. Find the measure of each angle. 4. The angles in a pentagon follow the ratio 2:3:4:4:5. Find the measure of each angle.

6 Draw a diagram, show work, label!
Station 6 – Similar Figures Word Problems 1. A man 6 feet tall casts a shadow that is 11 feet long. A building casts a shadow of 139 feet long. What is the height of the building? 2. A sign is 8 feet high and casts a 5-foot shadow while a nearby flagpole casts a 20-foot shadow. How high is the flagpole? 3. You are 5 feet tall. A nearby flagpole is 20 feet tall with a shadow of 36 feet. How long is your shadow? 4. The shadow of a 4 meter pole is 6 meters long at the same time the shadow of a tower is 52.5 meters long. How tall is the tower?
