2. What happened against Germany Between 1939 and 1945, 2 million tonnes of bombs were dropped over Germany. Most of these bombs destroyed oil facilities, railways, aircraft factories and other industrial marks

3. Dresden It happened Between February 13 th and 14 th of 1945. 35,000 to 135,000 people were killed by the 3,300 tonnes of bombs dropped in Dresden. This bombing was for the allies to crush the forward line of Germany in that area as well as showing Russia that they should not stray from their alliance and their bombers were to be feared. Churchill and Roosevelt had already decided that Stalin would be a major problem.

4. Hamburg The bombing of German city was quite like the bombing of Dresden in 1945. However, the bombing of Hamburg brought utter destruction to the city and regardless of what happened to the city itself, it did a great deal to people in Britain who had seen London and many other cities attacked and bombed with resulting casualties.

5. More Hamburg Hamburg was well defended. The Nazis were aware of its significance as the major port in the old Hanseatic League. The city was filled with anti-aircraft defences. Radar around the city could pick up enemy bombers when they were 100 miles away. For the mission, bomber crews were issued with tin foil strips ‘chaff’ coated onto paper which were to be dropped from each bomber. Which confused the radar into showing one bomber instead of 100’s

6. The Purpose The purpose of bombing wasn’t really strategic at all, it was good at slaughtering civilians along with army personal but there was no real use. The bombings were basically just Britain flexing their muscles saying “look how strong we are!” The biggest use of bombs were against enemy navy. Once they started building aircraft carriers, ships were being bombed left, right and center

7. Amount of Canadian pilots The RAAF trained only about 50 pilots per year for Australia 2,743 fully trained pilots to serve with the RAF in Europe from New Zealand trained by Canadians 16,000 RAF aircrew were trained in the United States. By Canadian instructors of course
