2. MERRY CHRISTMAS IN FRANCE Merry Christmas in France is pronounced as Joyeux Noel.

3. FOODS THAT ARE EATEN ON CHRISTMAS IN FRANCE The main Christmas meal, called Reveillon is ate on Christmas Eve. Dishes might include roast turkey with chestnuts, or roast goose, oysters, foi gras, lobster, venison and cheeses. For dessert a chocolate sponge cake log called a buche de noel is normally eaten.

4. SANTA CLAUS IN FRANCE In France, “ Santa Claus” is known as Pere Noel.

HOLIDAY TRADITIONS *The Yule Log is burnt in many homes as a Christmas tradition *Children put out their shoes for Pere Noel to fill them with gifts *French carols are called Noels *A few days before Christmas, the family sets up a nativity scene called a crèche *On Christmas day, the family goes to church again and then enjoys another abundant feast of wonderful dishes.

6. CELEBRATED ON Christmas in France is celebrated on December 6 th. December 5 is their Christmas Eve known as St. Nicholas Day.

7. FUN FACTS *In France, Christmas is called Noel. This comes from the French phrase les bonnes nouvelles, which means, “ The Good News”. *Naughty children receive some twigs tied together with a ribbon. *A popular Christmas song for French is called, “ Petit Papa Noel”.

8. GIFT FACTS *When it is morning children wake up to see that sweets, fruits, nuts, and small toys are hung on the Christmas tree
