2. The build up to Christmas. Most people put the nativity scene in their house as the main decoration. In the towns Christmas markets are set up. Children put their shoes out for St Nicolas on 6 th of December. Pere Fouettard comes round to naughty children and puts coal in their shoes.

3. When the country celebrates Christmas. In France Christmas is celebrated on 25 th December. The children in France open their presents on Christmas Eve. French people say Joyeux Noël.
