Let’s Think… Why was Eleanor Roosevelt considered an American Hero?

3 “We shape our lives. And we shape ourselves
“We shape our lives. And we shape ourselves. We are responsible for the choices we make.” Eleanor stood up for what she believed and fought for the rights of people that she would have never met. Today, First Ladies are expected to work for important causes because of the positive work that Eleanor Roosevelt accomplished.

4 “First Lady of the World”
Eleanor started helping others in her city, then in her state, then all over the country, then all around the world. For her hard work and dedication, people around the world remember her today as the “First Lady of the World.”

5 1962 Eleanor Roosevelt died in New York City, New York. She was buried next to her husband in Hyde Park, New York.

7 Positive Character Traits
Cooperation- She cooperated with Franklin Roosevelt and others on many projects. Tolerance- She showed tolerance when she worked for an agreement on the Declaration of Human Rights. Respect for and acceptance of authority- At a young age, Eleanor obeyed her grandmother when she returned to New York instead of staying in England. What are some ways you cooperate with others?
