12. Grady was the heart and soul of Emory SOM from its founding in 1920. Emory Clinic began in 1953. Emory Hospital was founded in 1904 but was not a teaching hospital until the clinic developed. Now Grady has a reduced but important role for Emory, but plays an essential role in Atlanta.
