6 If-clauseMain clause past perfect tense ‘would have’ + past participle If I had seen you,I would have said hello. If you had told me I would have forgiven the truth,you. The order of the clauses can be reversed:

7 Main clause If-clause ‘would have’ + past participle past perfect tense I would have said hello If I had seen you. I would have forgiven you If you had told me the truth. The comma between the clauses disappears when the main clause is first.
