2 Marfan’s Syndrome Chromosome
Marfan’s Syndrome is located on the 15th chromosome. Also Marfan’s Syndrome is a dominant gene.

3 Symptoms and Effects of Marfan’s Syndrome
People who have Marfan’s Syndrome.. - Very tall -Gives extra growth to bones( arms, legs, toes, fingers) - Creates stretch marks The effects are worse depending on how bad the person is diagnosed. The common cause of death is heart failure.

4 Diagnosis for Marfan’s Syndrome
Early detection in children is important to prevent other deformalities of the skeleton. People with this syndrome need to regularly see a doctor/ specialist. Physical/ contact sports should be avoided.

5 Prognosis of Marfan’s Syndrome
With out treatment the average life span is 40 to 50 years of age With good medical treatment life span is increased to about 70 years

6 Treatments for Marfan’s Syndrome
There is no cure for this condition. Anti-biotic medication needed regularly.

7 Current Research 1 of every 5,000 in the United States have the disorder Affects all races, men and women, boys and girls It mostly affects the skeleton, eyes, nervous system, skin, lungs, heart and blood vessels.

8 Life Story of Evan “Evan couldn't wait for school to begin. All summer long, he'd looked forward to trying out for the basketball team. He'd be a natural, everyone told him. At 14, he pretty much towered over his classmates. But when the time came for his sports physical, the doctor noticed some things about Evan that warranted a closer look. It wasn't just that Evan was really tall for his age and compared with other people in his family. In addition to being 6'1", his arms, legs, and fingers were very long and thin and his breastbone curved inward, giving his chest a caved-in look. The doctor told Evan that he couldn't give him the OK to try out until Evan had a few medical tests. Why? Because he suspected that Evan might have a genetic disorder called Marfan syndrome.”(
