What You’ll be Learning

What you’ll be learning Snorkel Skills Snorkeling is a fairly simple sport. We’ll be learning the finer details and techniques used by Scuba Divers to make their snorkeling skills more effective and much easier.

What you’ll be learning About Scuba a brief history of Scuba about Scuba certification risks involved with Scuba misconceptions about Scuba

What You’ll be learning Scuba Gear All NAUI certified divers learn the proper choice of gear for themselves and how to properly use Scuba Gear. The goal is for every certified diver to be independent in and out of the water. Learning about their gear is a key component to achieving this.

What you’ll be learning Scuba Gear All NAUI certified divers learn proper assembly, disassembly, cleaning, and care of Scuba Diving equipment.

What you’ll be learning We cannot speak underwater, so Divers employ a series of hand signals to communicate. You will be learning a language of hand signals, techniques, and use of devices to best communicate underwater

What you’ll be learning Navigation underwater can be challenging, especially in low visibility. You’ll use an Underwater Compass to fine tune your navigation skills.

What you’ll be learning a few of the Dive Skills include Donning your gear The Buddy System Entering the water Buoyancy Mask Clearing Regulator Recovery Regulator Clearing Proper weighting

What you’ll be learning Dive Skills Regulator Recovery Regulator Clearing Sharing Air with others Donning and doffing gear in the water Solving problems underwater And many other skills

What You’ll be learning Safety NAUI Divers learn safety and rescue skills to better prepare themselves, and others, in the event of a problem.

What You’ll be learning Dive Science The underwater environment is foreign to the human body. Being underwater and breathing supplied air creates adverse effects that the Diver must be aware of and learn to monitor. Skills like ear clearing, proper breathing, and controlled ascents and descents are taught and drilled at length in confined and open water to develop these to the point of motor skills.

What you’ll be learning Dive Science The laws of physics related to being underwater, air pressure, breathing supplied air and buoyancy, and how they effect you will be studied, reviewed, and applied in the form of workbook problems.

What you’ll be learning Dive Science Divers must always dive within the depth and time limitations of a dive profile. Students will learn to calculate their dive profile(s) using the NAUI Dive table

What you’ll be learning The Diving Environment As Scuba Divers, we are guests whenever we enter the water. Students will learn about the underwater environment and how to respectfully explore when visiting this magnificent habitat.
