Zero Waste Garment Sewing Instructions

1. Lay out pattern pieces on fabric (fabric must be 54” wide and 1 ½ yards long) and cut pieces. Make sure to mark darts before cutting. Front panel/back panel Front bodice/back bodice panels Strap pieces

4. Sew front bandeau bodice to back bandeau bodice pieces at side seems with ½” seam allowance. 5. Press seams open. 6. Turn up hem on bodice 1” and press and 1 ¼”, press and sew along turned down edge on inside. 7. Turn down top seam for bandeau ½” and iron and 1 1/8”, press and sew along turned down edge on inside.

8. Turn under center back seams
8. Turn under center back seams. Press ¼” and turn under ¾” at top and 1/3” at bottom”. This makes sure seam is tapered in towards bottom. Sew along edge. 9. Pin hook and eye tape along inside edge and sew down. Make sure hooks and eyes match up before sewing. 10. Cut excess hook and eye tape of.

13. Fold piece containing 5, 6, and 9 in half vertically. Sew right sides together with ½” seam allowance along one edge. Clip corners of the sewed end and pull tube inside out. Press strap flat. 14. Turn in edge of unsewn end once turned right side out and slip stitch by hand with ½:” turned in. 15. Repeat steps 13 and 14 on piece containing 7, 8, and 10.

16. Turn down sides of each bodice panel piece (front and back) 3/8” and press. Turn down 3/8” and sew. 17. Turn down top seam on front panel bodice pieces ¼” and press, then 1 ½” press, and sew. 18. Make slit 6.5” down in center back of back panel bodice piece. 19. Turn in on the diagonal front the bottom point of the slit so there is a triangle where the bottom point starts. 20. Diagonal starts with ½” at widest point on top and then gradually gets smaller towards to lowest point 6.5” down.

21. Feed strap piece through casing and tie in the center back at opening slit.
22. Slip stitch hem on front and back pieces. Turn under ¼”, press, turn another ¼” and slip stitch.

23. Tack front panel to front bodice at side seams on bottom and 3 ¼” front side seam.
