4 How to Qualify Complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) – available January 1 Determines eligibility for federal, state and institutional financial aid Submit any required documentation in a timely manner. Verification Documents include: Tax Return Transcripts (tax returns are not acceptable), W-2s (if student did not file, but earned income), Verification Worksheets, Verification of Divorce/Separation, Child support received/paid, SNAP Benefits, Untaxed income. 7 How to Maintain Financial Aid Eligibility Federal regulations require UNCW to establish Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress in the following areas: Cumulative GPA (qualitative) Hours Earned (quantitative) Maximum hours to degree/certificate completion Maintain a 2.0 GPA Complete at least 67% of all attempted hours. Do not exceed maximum timeframe to complete all degree or program requirements – 186 for undergraduate students

9 FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act) is a federal law that protects students education records. SeaNet Proxy www.uncw.edu > search SeaNet Proxy www.uncw.edu Set up option for students is the second available link Grant records access to family, friends, etc. for the University Registrar and Financial Aid Offices UNCW email is the official mode of communication. Very rarely (if at all) with anything be mailed. Check your email at least daily!
