4 Advanced Placement Courses  Collegeboard develops course curriculum  Students enroll in AP courses via school course selection process.  Enrolled students take the AP test in May.  AP Tests are scored on a scale of 1-5  Students who earn scores of “3”, “4,” or “5” have the potential to earn college credit.  Some colleges may not honor credit (check with the individual college or university to determine whether credit will transfer).

7 Dual Credit Courses: Palo Alto, Permian Basin  Student has the potential to earn college credit and high school credit while in high school  Colleges develop course curriculum  Application Process for Enrollment  Demonstrate college readiness in Math, Reading, Writing  Qualifying Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Scores  Qualifying PSAT scores (10 th grade scores only -10 th going to 11 th )  Qualifying ACT/SAT scores  Complete Apply Texas Application—Banner ID, Modules  Once application is complete then student is enrolled in Dual credit course.  Earn a grade of “B” or higher to earn college credit  Some colleges may not honor credit (check with the individual college or university to determine whether credit will transfer).

9 University of Texas at Austin On-Ramp Course (UT AP)  Potential to earn college credit and high school credit while in high school.  Curriculum developed by the University of Texas at Austin  Does not require a qualifying TSI score or college application process  Sign up for UT AP course during course selection.  Courses are advanced placement in nature with the possibility to transition into a dual credit course after demonstrating ability to manage the rigor of a college level course. Demonstrated success leads down the path to earning dual credit for the course. Or Student remains in the Advanced Placement option of the course with the potential to earn college credit via the advanced placement test.  Some colleges may not honor credit (check with the individual college or university to determine whether credit will transfer).

10 Rank Points Eight extra points per course, per semester are added in the calculation of grade point average for all advanced placement and dual credit courses provided the student successfully completes the course.
