3  Storytelling is a common part of every culture. In general, people enjoy listening to stories. Storytellers have taken advantage of this and shown off their skills in the form of a 'good story' since the beginning of civilization.  You may have your own favorite story from childhood and, sometimes, these tales are both fascinating and frightening. Stories like these include myths, folktales, and legends.

7  Story passed down through time and often reflects the beliefs and values of a culture.  A myth is a story based on tradition or legend, which has a deep symbolic meaning.
