2 Classification Inorganic molecules Micronutrients Classified as either water-soluble or fat soluble. 13 vitamins: 4 fat-soluble (A, D, E and K) and 9 water-soluble (8 B vitamins and vitamin C).

3 Water-soluble vitamins Dissolve easily in water, and are readily excreted from the body as urine. Since they are not stored in the body, they require consistent daily intake.

4 Fat-soluble vitamins Absorbed through the intestinal tract with the help of lipids (fats). Since they are more likely to accumulate in the body, they are more likely to lead to serious health problems
