2 Section 5 Comets (“dirty snowball” about the size of a mountain) – Comets are loose collections of ice, dust, and small rocky particles whose orbits are usually very long, narrow ellipses – A Comet’s Head Coma Nucleus – A Comet’s Tail – Origin of Comets Kuiper Belt Oort Cloud

3 Section 5 Asteroids (rocky objects revolving around the sun that are too small & numerous to be considered planets) – Most asteroids revolve around the sun between the orbits of Mars & Jupiter – Asteroid Belt

4 Section 5 Meteors – Meteoroid Come from comets or asteroids – Meteor – Meteorites
