Law of Refraction Take notes on the first 2 slides Follow the videos for the last 4 slides

Refraction Refraction – the bending of a light wave due to a change in speed as it travels from one medium to another. The following slides will guide you through the refraction of light through various shapes of glass: block, convex lens, and concave lens.

Refraction of light If the light slows down…air to glass: – The light will bend towards the normal line – Angle of incidence is greater than the angle of refraction –  i >  R If the light speeds up…glass to air: – The light will bend away from the normal line – Angle of incidence is less than the angle of refraction –  i <  R If  i = 0° then no bending occurs and  R = 0°

Use the Optics Part IX refraction diagrams which has the rectangle in the top half Follow along with the Law of Refraction video theteterszone.net/wp/optics Part IX Refraction through a piece of glass…

Use the Optics Part IX refraction diagrams which has the rectangle in the top half Follow along with the Convex Lens video theteterszone.net/wp/optics Part IX Refraction through a convex lens…

Use the Optics Part IX refraction diagrams which has the convex lens in the top half Follow along with the Convex Easy rays video. theteterszone.net/wp/optics Part IX Easy Rays for a convex lens…

Follow along with the Concave Easy Rays video theteterszone.net/wp/optics Part IX Easy Rays for a concave lens… Use the Optics Part IX refraction diagrams which has the convex lens in the top half
