4. Hypothesis  The predicted solution to the problem –Based on observations, research, or prior experience

5. Experiment  The hypothesis is tested in a controlled situation.  Experimental Group –Multiple subjects used to test the hypothesis  Control Group –Multiple subjects used to simulate normal conditions –Standard(s) for comparison

6. Experiment  Independent Variable –Factor that is manipulated by the experimenter  Dependent Variable –Factor that changes as result of IV manipulation –Usually recorded as the data for the experiment
