4. The reason they Settled They settled by people from the Netherlands. The Dutch came to the area to set up a fur trading post. They wanted this land for themselves because the British settlers in New England could move westward. In 1664 the British captured the colony.

5. Jobs They had a lot of jobs such as Farmers, miners, lumberman, sailors, trappers, and merchants. You should come to New York they have lots of jobs for you. Please Come

6. Government Colonists had little power in New York's government. The governor appointed other officials and enforced the laws. Governors appointed by the king were controlled by England.
