3 Cyber Bullying Watch the following short clip and discuss what you think it is about Sam's Story Definition: the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature.

4 Fact and Opinion: Text is usually written in a fact or opinion form (sometimes mixed) Facts are things you can prove Opinions are statements that cant be proved true or false – they are always open to debate

5 Features of facts: Figures Statistics Dates Names 60% of learners at Lambeth College are men. 25% of women have reported a car insurance claim in the last 6 months, compared to 70% of men. Christmas Day falls on 25 th December every year.

6 Features of opinions: News Magazines Books Newspapers There are loads of man at Lambeth College. Women are better drivers than men. Christmas Day is the best day of the year.

7 Can you have a mixture of facts and opinions? Example: Jay Z and Beyonce made £280 million from their highly entertaining and mind- blowing world-wide tour.

8 Task 1: Read the FACT sheet and identify 3 clear facts What do they have in common? Read the OPINION sheet and identify 3 clear opinions What do they have in common?

9 Task 2: Use the “Jerome” worksheet to write a reply to a problem scenario. Use opinions and facts in your reply.
