4 Class Information Children’s coats and PE kits are kept on pegs. Children are told to put their jumpers/cardigans in their drawers if they take them off. School Meals for children in Y1 are universally free. However, if you receive benefits, you may be able to register so that the school receives extra funding to support your child. Any trip money should be taken directly to the office. NO MONEY will be collected by teachers. Lunch box – healthy – NO POP, Sugary drinks, sweets. - Parent Information Sharing Autumn 2015-

5 Class Information Uniform – Black shoes. PE Kits should be shorts, a plain t-shirt and pumps in white, green or black. Please include a pair of socks for girls, just in case they have worn tights to school! PE is on Mondays and Thursdays for this term. Children should leave their PE kits in school and they will be sent home every half term. Please encourage your child to dress and undress independently. - Parent Information Sharing Autumn 2015-

6 Class Information Please could you send an old t-shirt/shirt in that the children could use when painting? Book Bags – Need to be in school EVERY day. 1F Book Bags are kept in the coloured washing up bowls. 1S Book Bags are kept in the children’s drawers. Children need to take responsibility for putting their own reading book into the basket to be changed. We aim to change books every day, but there are benefits to rereading a book! - Parent Information Sharing Autumn 2015-

7 A ‘typical’ day in Y1! 8.45a.m. doors open. 8.55a.m. register. Please ring the school office if your child is off ill. Assemblies: Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 9.05am. Wednesday is our Achievement Assembly. Thursdays and Fridays assemblies at 10.15am. Before Break- Read, Write, Inc in ability groups. Break time- fruit is provided for all children in Year 1. After Break- Maths. Lunch- 11.45am-12.45pm. English Skills. Maths Fluency. Topic Afternoon Break- 2.30pm-2.45pm. Story 3.15 p.m. home time. - Parent Information Sharing Autumn 2015-

8 Particular days Monday afternoons- 1F and 1S PPA afternoon. Wednesdays- Achievement Assembly at 9.10am. Look out for an invitation coming out on Tuesdays! Thursdays- Spelling Books to be returned to school. Fridays- new spellings sent out in Spelling Books. Fridays- Golden Time - Parent Information Sharing Autumn 2015-

Rewards: Wow cards> certificates> prizes Concerts, show casing learning, end of term – Governors Prize Giving – be there..! Assemblies : Wednesday Yr 1&2 9:10am Yr3,4,5,6 – 10am. All welcome! Birthday cards... SITE BEHAVIOUR: FOR ALL – Everyone matters! Ensure your child has what he/she needs on the day.

10 Curriculum- widening learning - Parent Information Sharing Autumn 2015- Miss Mills – Curriculum Development Leader Widening the Curriculum - EDUCATIONAL VISITS:  Your child will be going to The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum in the Spring term to experience two of their art modules.  The trip will cost £4.50 per child. All money will need to go straight to the office.  More details to follow!  Safety - Risk assessments.  Sports Development- Mr Blakeman will be starting a multi- skills club for Y1 children after half term

11 Wow Event - Parent Information Sharing Autumn 2015- This year, Year 1 will be holding our Wow Event at the beginning of December. We will be inviting grown-ups in to: Complete some festive crafts. Have a go at making some festive treats. Share a special Tea Party. Listen to/join in with some festive singing! If anyone has a special talent in any of these areas, please come forward- any help is much appreciated! Look out for more details after half term!
