2 General Information: Very rich in natural resources. This country has evolved along with the United States of America with regards to technology and economics. Border between Canada and the U.S.A. is not fortified. Main problem in Canada revolves around language. Quebec is a French speaking province, and the rest of Canada speaks English.

3 Location: Absolute: 60* North Latitude, 95* West Longitude Relative: Northern portion of North America. North Atlantic Ocean is on the East, and North Pacific Ocean is on the West. Arctic Ocean is to the North. North of the United States of America.

4 Place: Somewhat larger than the United States. Climate: Ranges from Arctic in the North to Temperate in the South. Terrain: Plains and mountains in the Western region, and Lowlands in the Southeast.

5 Second largest country in the world. 85% of the population lives within 300km of the Canada and U.S. Border. July 1, 1867 gained independence from the United Kingdom. Government is a Confederation with a Parliamentary Democracy.

10 Human and Environmental Interaction: Air Pollution and Acid Rain affect lakes and forests. Smelting, coal burning, and vehicles burning fossil fuels are damaging agriculture and forests. Industry, mining, and forestry activities are contaminating ocean waters.
