2 Our Mission The mission of E.R. Jerger Elementary is to promote a positive and diverse learning experience, in which students maximize their potential. Our staff, students, and parents will strive to produce life-long learners and leaders.

4 Jerger Leaders Are Respectful, Responsible, Reliable To be RESPECTFUL I will: use polite words and actions. wait for my turn. clean up after myself. respond quickly and appropriately to adult directions. respond immediately to “Give Me Five!” quiet signal. use appropriate voice level. hold the door open for the person behind me. keep my hands, feet, and objects to myself.

5 Jerger Leaders Are Respectful, Responsible, Reliable To be RESPONSIBLE I will: take responsibility for my actions. take proper care of all personal belongings and school property. be in the right place, at the right time, with the right materials. accept consequences without arguing.

6 Jerger Leaders Are Respectful, Responsible, Reliable To be RELIABLE, I will: set a good example for others by doing what is right. use all equipment and materials appropriately. be honest. maintain personal boundaries. ask the adult in charge to help me when I have a problem.

7 Hallway Procedures Walk quietly on the right side of the hall with your hands behind your back or by your side, facing forward. Go only where you need to go. Help keep hallways neat and clean. Maintain your position in line. Refrain from touching hall displays. Notice the stop points and use them as your teacher instructs.

8 Bathroom Procedures Give people privacy: don’t look under or over the stall. Knock on stall door before entering. Keep water in the sink and feet on the floor. Flush toilet after every use. Wash hands with soap and water. Put paper towels in the garbage can.

9 Media Center BE RESPECTFUL Follow rules and procedures of the Media Center. If given permission to talk, use appropriate voice levels. Patiently wait your turn. BE RESPONSIBLE Take proper care of materials and equipment. Check out and return materials in a timely manner. Use time wisely. BE RELIABLE Know your purpose for visiting and be prepared. If you find a book that is not yours, check with the adult in charge, and/or turn it in to the Media Center.

10 Cafeteria Stand quietly in line with your hands behind your back or by your side until you reach the milk cooler. Get all utensils, milk, etc. when first going through the line. Hold your tray with both hands and go directly to your assigned table. Keep all food to yourself.

11 Cafeteria continued Talk only to the person next to or directly across from you. When the music is playing it means to lower your voices. Sit with your bottom on the seat, feet on the floor, and face forward. Raise your hand and wait to be assisted by an adult. Follow directions and routines.

12 Cafeteria continued Use appropriate table manners (only mix food that you are going to eat, don’t talk with food in your mouth, use your napkin and utensils correctly, touch only the food on your tray). Clean your area before leaving the table. Wait for an adult to dismiss you. Empty your food tray quickly and quietly. Don’t laugh or make fun when someone drops his/her food.

13 Playground/Recess Play fairly. Include others in activities. Show good sportsmanship. Stay within the boundaries. Be aware of nearby activities/games. Gather your belongings when leaving. Remind others to line-up quickly and safely when recess is over.

14 Bus BE RESPECTFUL Obey staff members on bus and at destination. Keep hands, feet, and other objects to self. BE RESPONSIBLE Quietly board and quietly ride your assigned bus. Remain seated on bus. BE RELIABLE Remain with your teacher and class or group.

15 Arrival If you arrive before 7:30, sit quietly in the front lobby area. Walk to your assigned hallway, and sit quietly until the bell rings at 8:00. After eating breakfast in the cafeteria, report directly to your assigned area. Breakfast is available from 7:20-7:50. Morning announcements are completed by 8:15 and the school day begins.

16 Dismissal Walk directly to your assigned area, sit quietly, and listen for your name to be called. Keep your hands, feet, and belongings to yourself. Use sidewalks and crosswalks.

17 Assemblies and Special Events Walk quietly into the assembly with your hands behind your back or by your side. Sit on your bottom with your hands in your lap, face forward, and look at the person speaking. Use audience manners. Wait for permission to exit and depart in the same manner that you arrived.

18 Dress Code No bare midriffs, tank tops, halter tops (one shoulder out, tube tops), no low or plunging necklines, and spaghetti straps, loose fitting sleeveless tops that do not cover foundation garments. All shirts for third, fourth and fifth grade boys should be tucked and pants should be worn with a belt. NO sagging pants or shorts, no low waist pants, low rider pants, pants/shorts with holes. No overly short dresses or shorts (must come to the fingertip of the middle finger when the arms are down at the student’s side).

19 Dress Code Earrings are to be worn only in the ears. Clothing depicting disruptive words, violence, vulgarity, drugs, alcohol or disrespect for others will not be allowed. Hats, scarves, headbands, du-rags, bandanas, or other head coverings will not be allowed. Students are expected to wear appropriate footwear for all school activities.

20 Student Recognition We believe in you and have high expectations for every student at Jerger Elementary School. Class Rewards: Special treats/celebrations each time a goal is reached. Individual Rewards: Terrific Tickets can be earned to redeem for prizes and special privileges. Jerger Leader: Jerger Leader Awards are presented each month to students who consistently demonstrate The Three R’s: RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, RELIABLE Let’s all work hard to be JERGER LEADERS!
