3. Origins of The Strawberry Alarm Clock The Strawberry Alarm clock was originally named The Sixpence. They are from Los Angeles, California. Strawberry Alarm Clock became famous off of the song “Incense and Peppermints”, although the song was sung by the bands friend. The band hit major success with their one hit. After the Album “Incense and Peppermints”, the band never saw the same popularity.

4. The Fall of Strawberry Alarm Clock After the first album, some of the members left and were replace. They made two more albums that didn’t go much of anywhere and appeared in some films. The band broke up and member Ed King joined Lynyrd Skynyrd. When their only hit was played in Austin Powers, the band rejoined to tour their old music and some new.

5. Political Events On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was shot. This news shocked the nation, as he was a well-liked young president. Just as the president was making strides in the civil rights movement, he was killed. Vice President Lyndon Johnson took hold of the office after the tragedy.

6. Social Events On the day March 7, 1965 six hundred people marched from Selma, Alabama, to Montgomery for voting rights. They left on a Sunday, now known as “Bloody Sunday”. The police in attacked the marchers at a bridge six blocks away. Martin Luther King Jr., then led a march to the bridge two days later. After that the marchers wanted protection from the court to continue the march. On March 25, with 25,000 people, the march took place. The people succeeded getting the President to pass a Voting Rights Act.
