3 Automation The equipment used in the factory is controlled by a computer to carry out mechanical processes, such as paint spraying on a car assembly line. Virtually no employees are needed. Mechanisation Production is done by machines that are operated by people, for example a printing press, where a few employees are needed.

4 Electronic Point Of Sale (EPOS) This is used at a checkout, where the employee scans the barcode. Information contained within a bar code contains information such as where the product is from, how much it is and how many are left in store. Electronic Funds Transfer At Point Of Sale (EFTPOS) When a customer pays by card, the till is connected to all the Banks. Information will be sent to the Bank, such as how much money the customer has spent. The money will instantly be debited from the customer’s account.
