14. Following the eras of westward expansion, immigration and industrialization, America was faced with countless political, economic and societal problems. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, America was a booming nation and one that was also having to endure some serious growing pains. These pains or problems, greatly effected the lives of the American people in one way or another. Through the work of progressive reformers, many of these problems were exposed and caught the attention of law and policy makers, along with state and federal governments.
