7. Freeport, The Bahamas Freeport's greatest distinction is that it's on the Bahamas' northernmost island. Located a mere 70 miles east of Palm Beach, Grand Bahamas Island is a regular on the short-cruise circuit from South Florida. The harbor attracted settlers in the early days, particularly pirates.
