2 Review of the 1st Moroccan Crises
Great Britain settle colonial issues with France 1904 (GB gained influence in Egypt and France gained influence in Morocco. Moroccan Crisis 1905 Causes Algeciras conference 1906 Germans felt encircled after the Entente Cordiale 1904 between Britain and France Germany wanted to test the relationship between Britain and France Kaiser sent a war ship to support Moroccan Independence and demanded an conference Outcomes: Great Britain backs French claims in Morocco Britain and France become closer Triple Entente is Formed 1907 after Anglo-Russian Convention

3 The 2nd Moroccan Crisis 1911 Second Moroccan Crisis Outcomes
1911 France put down local unrest in Morocco, a violation of the Algeciras accords Again Germany sent a battle ship to protect its interests. Britain again sided with France Germany was forced to recognize French dominance in Morocco in exchange for a small amount of the French Congo. Britain become more worried over German aggression.

4 The Crises in the Balkans
First Balkan Crisis 1908 Second Balkan Crisis 1912 and 1913 First Balkan War 1912 Growing Balkan Nationalism at the start of the 20th century Croatian and Slovenian nationalists wished to leave Austrian empire and join with Serbia. Austria and Russia agreed that Austria could annex Bosnia in exchange Russia would have access to the straits. Serbia was infuriated at Austria and The Triple Entente refused to grant Russia access to the straits. Bulgaria gained independence from Ottomans. Balkan League (Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro and Greece) declare war and Ottomans . Ottomans are defeated and lose almost all territory in Europe. Serbia is upset because Austria and Germany make sure they don’t gain Albania which would give them access to the sea. Great Britain and Germany were able to work together to negotiate peace.

5 The Crises in the Balkans
Second Balkan war 1913 Bulgaria was not satisfied with gains and attacked Serbia. Balkan League backed Serbia and Bulgaria was quickly defeated and lost what it had gained in the First Balkan War British and Germans were able to prevent Austria and Russia from getting involved. However tensions grew between Serbia and Austria
