2 What do examiners look for? We look for evidence that candidates can use evidence to support their statements. We look for understanding and awareness of our society. We like to see evidence that people can think for themselves.

3 What else do they reward? The continual use of sociological terms and ideas. Well planned essays Wide range of knowledge of British society. Knowledge that is relatively up-to- date

4 Advice for candidates Don’t copy out questions. Answer the question directly. Space out work to allow for afterthoughts. Follow the examination paper numbering system. Don’t use bullet points

5 Please don’t … You should not write sentences beginning ‘I think that …’ or ‘In my opinion …’ Write too much for short mark answers. Write personal notes to the examiners.
