Early Life.Harriet was born, as a slave around 1820 or 1821..Harriet’s nick name was Minty and she knew how to sew, weave, and cook.

Career.She worked for the Underground railroad to help slaves escape..She also worked for the Fortress Monroe Hospital in Washington D.C. while working there, she cared for black patients

Contributions to Society.Harriet allowed blacks to live with her. She never turned away people in need..Two books were written about Harriet. She took the money earned from these books and gave it away. ( used it for blacks.)

Closing.Harriet died in the spring of 1913 from Pneumonia. Lots of people helped her while she was sick..A bronze plaque honoring Harriet stands in front of the Auburn court house.
