1 HYPLOT One PLT File per Page. 1

2 Plotting Smooth Sheets: HYPLOT
Interface similar to HYPACK®. Plots all background files. Import of Graphics (such as company logo). Plot text. Plot Color bar, Compass Rose and Scale Bar. Preview plot by zooming. WYSIWYG. (What You See Is What You Get). Plot to any Windows® based printer/plotter. User can save sheet settings and apply them to other plotting sheets. User defined title blocks. NOTE: HYPLOT can print your smooth sheets, or save them to PDF or GeoTIF for future printing, or sending to clients. 2

3 Running HYPLOT HYPLOT requires a plotting sheet.
Create a plotting sheet. (Preparation – Editors – Plotting Sheet Editor). On the Training DVD, See ‘Shell Editors – Plotting Sheet Editor’ Run HYPLOT: Click on Final Products – HYPLOT. If there is more than one plotting sheet (*.PLT file) in your project, HYPLOT will prompt you to choose one. If you do not have a plotting sheet in your project, HYPLOT will exit. 3

4 HYPLOT Layout Menu Bar Icon Bar Files Info Bar Preview Screen
Color Bar Screen Tools 4

5 Save and Load Template Settings
Saves the position and status of all objects (title blocks, rules, graphics, north arrows, etc.) and writes the information to a plotting ‘Template’ file. Load: Allows you to read a plotting ‘Template’ file and apply the settings to any plotting sheet. Advantage: You don’t have to keep re-designing the same plotting sheet layout. Do it one time and save it to a template file. Then load the template file the next time you create a new plotting sheet.

6 Enabling Data and Project Files
Files enabled in the HYPACK® Shell will be enabled in HYPLOT. Simply right-click to enable or disable your data and project files inside HYPLOT as you would in HYPACK®. What you see on your preview screen is what will plot. 6

7 Changing Plotting Parameters
Borders Colorbar Compass Grids Import of Graphics Matrix North Arrow Planned Lines Ruler Soundings Targets Text Title Blocks Tracklines Chart Options Click the Menu Item ‘Settings – Control Panel’ or hit the F9 key to change any of the Plotting Parameter settings. 7

8 Control Panel - Borders
Choose: Border Style Line Weight Border Color Note: Some Border Styles already have projection labels. If so, you will want to disable the Project Grid labeling to prevent confusing labels. 8

9 Border Styles Border Options: No Border, Single, Double, Double w/Title Block Area, IHO, Chinese JTJ-203, Russian National Border, NY Corps of Engineers, Norfolk USACE. 9

10 Moving Objects Once you have placed an object on the plot, take the arrow tool to move it into its final position. 10

11 Control Panel – Color Bar
The Color Bar acts as a legend to interpret depth colors. (If you’re plotting in black and white, don’t bother!) You can choose: The position of the Color Bar on the plotting sheet. Set the size of the Color Bar cells and labels. Plot or don’t plot. AVI 11

12 Control Panel - Compass
Alignment: Geodetic or Grid North Change the size of the Compass Rose! 12

13 Control Panel – Projection Grid
Grid Settings Tics or Lines Spacing Line Weight How labels look. Position Font Users can place the projection labels inside the plotting area. Inside Labels Outside Labels 13

14 Latitude Longitude Grids Both Local and WGS-84 Available on Same Plot
Separate options for: WGS-84 Local datum Label Format: Ddd.ddddddd Ddd mm.mmmmm Ddd mm ss.sss Auto Font Size: Proportions label size to fit border. Best for multiple grids. 14

15 Control Panel – Import of Graphics
You can import graphics (BMP, JPG, TIF, GIF, PNG, etc.) into HYPLOT. Graphics can maintain their aspect ratio when re-sizing. 15

16 Control Panel - Matrix This panel allows you to plot: You can plot:
Matrix border Matrix depth colors Both You can plot: Dredge depth Survey depth Difference 16

17 Control Panel – North Arrow
North Arrows: Select from several types. North arrows are currently aligned to grid north. 17

18 Control Panel – Planned Lines
Options to: Draw lines. Label lines. Change font and color size. 18

19 Control Panel – Ruler (aka Scale Bar)
The Ruler shows the scale of your plotting sheet. Ruler 19

20 Control Panel - Soundings
The Soundings options in HYPLOT are the same as those in the HYPACK SHELL. The settings are independent from those in the HYPACK SHELL. 20

21 Control Panel - Targets
These options determine: Whether to plot target labels. Font Size Color 21

22 Control Panel - Text Allows for multiple text lines
Allows for a box to be drawn around the text. 22

23 Control Panel – Title Blocks
Use existing Title Blocks that you can edit, or create your own! 23

24 Title Block Editor Create new title blocks or edit existing title blocks. Each title block consists of a series of ‘blocks’ that can contain text or a graphic. ‘Snap to Grid’ and ‘Ruler’ aid you in lining up your blocks. The ‘Title Block’ can be saved and applied to any plotting sheet.

25 Making a User Defined Title Blocks

26 Control Panel - Tracklines
Trackline events can be labeled with event number or event time. 26

27 Control Panel – Chart Options
User can select: DXF/DGN Color Option S57 Options 27

28 Sheet Information Icon
Click on the Sheet Information icon to review information about your plot sheet size files drawn… 28

29 09/18/12 HYPLOT: Going to the printer/plotter Plotting Options (Important for large sheets.) Default Mode for plots with Raster data (TIF, BSB,…) Default Mode for plots with no Raster data (S57 is OK!). Faster! Set your plot resolution for raster plots (needed if your plotter can’t handle Gigabytes of info…) We recommend you try “Direct Plot”. It’s a lot faster. Most plotters can handle it. Some plotters cannot. The more memory onboard your plotter, the quicker the results. 29

30 HYPLOT: Send it to the Printer Device
30

31 Export Options Export to DXF, DWG, TIF and PDF
PDF has option for small raster format, and a larger Vector format with separate layers and higher detail but output can be slow Both TIF and PDF exports are georeferenced. 31

32 PDF Output HYPACK® 2011 Training Seminar 09/18/12

33 HYPLOT TO DXF

34 HYPLOT: Export to DXF Great for: Does not convert: Sheet borders
Lat-Long grids Title blocks Compass rose Color bars Rulers User-defined text Blocks User-input graphics User-designed title blocks. Does not convert: Some raster and vector background charts.

35 HYPLOT Export Options Output plotting sheet info to DXF, DGN, DWG, GeoTIF or GeoReferenced PDF. Limited DXF options allow only the naming of layers and little else.

36 HYPLOT: Exporting to DXF: Example

37 HYPLOT: DXF Results in AutoCad Viewer
09/18/12

38 Multi-Sheet HYPLOT Capable of plotting multiple sheets
Same features as the original HYPLOT Layout (.LOT) files store paper size and which PLTs are showing

39 Handling Multiple Plots
Plot Manager is the key new window Create or load layouts Add or remove PLT files Put exact offsets in for PLTs Active sheets Active PLT has a red border Settings changed and files activated/deactivated affect the active PLT. Active PLT changes by clicking on desired sheet, or in the Settings window on the Plotting Sheets Tab.
