Missing some expertise ECS expert for detector debugging: we have many experts on specific items, but few of us are able to make all the “connections” and remember all tricks – we recently had to involve Caterina for a specific debugging! Tell1 firmware is still an item without a muon expert, but which usually requires no intervention (cross your fingers). Giacomo keeps track of the muon-specific FW and knows how to upload it. Will not be a problem for for Run3 ELMB firmware: under Rome1 responsibility but the real expert is gone – it would have been useful to improve chamber configuration speed – new control HW for Run3 Muon meeting, 07MAY15A. 4. Run2 will be tough (and long)! I AM WORRIED! Will be taking data in 2015, 2016, 2017 and (part of) 2018 Maintaining the muon system excellent performance will require a continuous HARD work, however: –The excellent physics results are pushing people in continuing their analysis work, and even more because fresh data at 13 TeV collision energy will be available soon –The upgrade activities will become more and more intense while approaching LS2 We need an extremely serious commitment from our experts and less-experts; we have an excellent detector and cannot spoil its performance because of a lack of attention! –Regular presence at the muon meetings –Periodical presence at CERN for the participation to data taking activity, for example being involved in regular LHCb shifts and muon piquet shifts –Prompt availability in case of problems and ready to cooperate with piquets We need “fresh” and motivated new experts! –(How old are you today? Are you ready for Run2, Run3, …?) –Future experts will mainly come from our young people  check and grow up your future group! –Remember that they will benefit, in their CV, from an hardware-related activity  IMPORTANT! –Getting involved at the pit it’s an excellent way to learn what we will need for the upgrade Muon meeting, 07MAY15A.
