2 © 2011 Autodesk Class Summary  This session is intended for Autodesk Inventor ® users who want to make their designs look more realistic; using easy-to-learn software that comes with the Inventor suite. In this hands-on lab we will take an Autodesk Inventor ® model and make it look like a photograph to better display models to customers. We will explore how to create an.avi file of our rendering.

7 © 2011 Autodesk Learning Objectives At the end of this class, you will be able to:  Import data into Autodesk Showcase ®, using Autodesk Inventor ® or any other 3D package.  Use environments and explain how to create them.  Add lighting and shadows and modify them.  Add and create materials.  Create alternate versions of your design for evaluating different ideas.  Create.avi files and still shots of your presentation.

8 © 2011 Autodesk Keys to succeeding using Autodesk Showcase ®  Use short cuts to aid in learning the software, most short cuts make since, i.e. Materials = M  Use the help menu.  Do as much work as possible inside of Inventor to aid in the translation, i.e. suppress all parts not needed before converting.  When importing data from an unknown source use a low level of detail for converting, you can always change it latter if needed.  Most of all have fun!

Autodesk Showcase ® can’t create geometry but it gives you many options for manipulating and leveraging your data to present your design in a realistic setting. You can use the images to help convey design versions and help others better understand about decisions of design in a realistic environment.  I think you will find this a powerful graphics tool to better convey your designs to your customers and peers. It comes with your suite of software so take advantage of this awesome tool.  If you have questions or comments please feel free to email @ deg1@suddenlink.net or david.gaskill@ovivowater.com deg1@suddenlink.netdavid.gaskill@ovivowater.com  Thank you for your time, and remember to fill out your survey’s!
