2 Fire Extinguisher Fires can start from three Classifications
1. Wood, paper and cloth - A 2. Flammable gases - B 3. Electrical shortage - C Three classifications for fire extinguishers 1. A – Will extinguish fires started from wood, paper or cloth 2. Is a colorless, odorless very toxic gas Carbon Monoxide Poisoning is very dangerous and possibly fatal. Symptoms of Carbon Monoxide poisoning are: headaches, drowsiness, or nausea. It can be found in a clogged chimney flue, improperly vented gas heater and a exhaust pipe of an automobile. 4/27/2017

Handrails for going up and down stairs. Avoid slippery floor surfaces—if you must walk across, take small steps. CLEAN UP SPILLS IMMEDIATELY—DO NOT LEAVE IT FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO CLEAN. Keep department clean and free of trip hazards. Do not stand on tables or chairs to reach high objects—get appropriate step stool or ladder. Do not leave object of any kind on stairs. Use extra caution in high heels or slick bottom shoes. When you are walking, keep hands to your side—not in pockets. Report any tripping hazard to teacher immediately. If you trip, slip, or fall, notify your teacher immediately. Watch where you are going when you are walking. If you get it out, put it up. You do not have to write all of these… Classroom Safety

16 Follow proper handling instructions on the package for any cleanser.
Don’t wear gloves or loose jewelry when operating instruments with moving parts. Close drawers and cabinets slowly and keep your fingers out of the way. Put materials down carefully so you don’t mash your fingers. NEVER put anything metal in microwave oven. Report all unsafe conditions/acts to teacher immediately. If it is too heavy, do not lift it, get some help. Never lift items that are greasy. Classroom Safety

17 Treat any sharp instrument, like knives and scissors, with respect.
Never horseplay or “goof” around with a sharp instrument. Always cut away from your body when using a sharp instrument. Use the right tool or instrument for the task to be performed. If you talk with your hands, put sharp instruments down before speaking. Never carry a sharp instrument in your pocket, including screwdrivers. Keep your hands and fingers away from the blade of any knife, but especially electric knives. Do not wear loose fitting clothing when using electric knife or when around the oven. Unplug an electric knife immediately after use. If you have to pick up broken glass, do so carefully using a wet paper towel. Use a broom and dust pan to pick up the large pieces and a wet paper towel for the smaller pieces. When passing a sharp object, like a knife, do so very slowly and give it to the person handle first. Know how to use sharp equipment before you try. Don’t write Sharp Objects

18 NEVER put anything in the electrical outlet other than electrical plugs designed for the outlet.
Inspect all electrical appliance cords, and extension cords for exposed wiring, cuts, and tears in the protective coating. Inspect all electrical appliances Three pronged plugs go into three pronged outlets. Make sure you turn off electrical appliances and unplug them before working on them. Unless you are a certified electrician, do not try to fix electrical equipment. Report any electrical utensil or wire problems to your teacher immediately. Do not touch anything electrical if your hands are wet. Do not place electrical cords near heat or water. Do not overload electrical outlets. Don’t write Electrical Equipment

Make sure you know how hot or cold something is before you pick it up.
