Background Does the section have a bolded and underlined title? Does it give enough backgound information? – Does it explain a little about carrots/ plant cells/ cells reaction to salt? – Does it flow from general to specific? Is the last sentence a purpose statement? – “The purpose of this is lab is to ……” Typos? Worth: 3 point

Hypothesis Does the section have a bolded and underlined title? Is it an “If _____ then______” statement? – If a carrot is soaked in salt water, then it will increase in size. Or whatever their hypothesis should be. Typos?

Materials Does the section have a bolded and underlined title? Is it complete? Glance through the procedures and see if they missed anything Are the materials listed in bullets and columns? Typos? Worth: 2 point

Procedure Does the section have a bolded and underlined title? Does it contain enough instruction to replicate? Are the steps numbered? Typos? Worth: 6 point

Does it have a chart containing quantitative data – Charts should be neatly organized, made on the computer – ALL CHARTS NEED CAPTIONS “Figure 1: Carrots length before and after soaking” Does it have a paragraph containing qualitative data. – Comparing before and after of both carrots (So, 4 descriptions) Typos? Conclusion Does it start with a Restatement of the hypothesis? – “In this lab, the carrots ability to stand up to salt was tested” Does it review the procedures (how the hypothesis was tested) in 2-3 sentences? Does it determine if the hypothesis was supported or not? – “The hypothesis was supported by the evidence collected” Typos? Worth: 4 point
