4. Join the conversation. “What are you scared of and why?” A survey in the UK found that 1 in 7 people are scared of going to the dentist. Phobia is a word that means a persistent, abnormal, and irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels one to avoid it, despite the awareness and reassurance that it is not dangerous.

12. BBC Grammar Challenge The present perfect is a verb form which links the past and present. We use it when we talk about an action or state which started in the past and which continues up to the present time.
