2 Response rates (CCE), Spring 2012 In classes with 10+ students, response rates ranged from 14% (5/35) to 77% (24/31) Top response rates among full-time faculty: – 525, Marciano, 75% – 465, Lee, 74% – 755, Tibbo, 73% – 780, Losee, 67% – 890, Hughes-Hassell, 67% – 582, Haas, 66% – 490, Pomerantz, 63%

3 Response rates (SILS form), S12 In classes with 10+ students, response rates ranged from 0 (4 classes) to 86% (25/29) Top response rates among full-time faculty: – 465, Lee, 74% – 500, Wildemuth, 65% – 525, Marciano, 60% – 490, Pomerantz, 58%

4 Suggestions for improving response rates Set aside class time for survey completion Stress the importance of providing feedback (repeatedly) Explain how the evaluations are used Collect and respond to students’ comments mid- term Other suggestions? Should we eliminate the SILS form (adding items to the CCE)? Would that improve the CCE response rate?
