2 Vermont began planning for the Child Care Apprenticeship Program.

3  The VT Child Care Industry and Careers Council was formed.  Our first Child Care Apprentices were signed in December of 2000

4  Trades including plumbers, electricians, manufacturing, police offices, butchers, etc.

5 Apprentices:  Must be employed  Must have a High School Diploma or GED; or be a student attending Human Services classes at a technical center  Commit to on-the-job training with a qualified mentor in their workplace  Earn 18 college credits, tuition-free

6 In collaboration with the VT Department of Labor and area child care employers, manages Child Care Apprenticeship Blends state and federal funding, private foundations, community grants and individual donors and membership dues

7  Communication in the Early Childhood Education and Afterschool Workplace (COM 1015)  Infant and Toddler Development (PSY 2020)  Development of the Young Child: Ages 3-8 (PSY 2025)  Curriculum Development for Early Childhood Education (EDU 2045)  Program Management for Early Childhood Education (EDU 2042)  Leadership, Mentoring and Supervision for Early Childhood and Afterschool Practitioners  (EDU 2041)

8 Fall 2015 courses Bennington (class 3) Montpelier (class 4) Rutland (class 1) Springfield (class 4) Winooski (2 cycles-class 1 and 4) Spring 2016 will add both St. Albans and St. Johnsbury (class1)

9  Child Development Division contract  VT Department of Labor  Registration fees from non-apprentice students  Membership dues

10  Early Learning Challenge Grant  Spans 2014 through December 2017 ◦ Funding 1 FTE (includes travel) ◦ Six sets of courses ◦ Marketing ◦ Additional training for apprentices

11  VCCICC has provided funding to support 45 continuous semesters, first at Champlain College in 2001/2002 and at CCV starting in 2003  Over 1,600 INDIVIDUAL students  Taken over 2,800 classes  Have earned 8,658 credits!

12 Child Care Apprenticeship  111 apprentices have completed the Program  42 apprentices have signed agreements with the VT Department of Labor  4 are in their Orientation period, slated to sign agreements and start college coursework in January.
