2  Scottsboro Jr. High School Facts  SJHS is a Public Middle School which serves the city of Scottsboro, population 15,000  Community Advantages – Close-knit community which values education.  SJHS Advantages – Hard-working, knowledgeable teachers, excellent faculty and staff rapport, well behaved students, and excellent Central Office support.  Difficulties - Poverty rate is higher than the national average, unemployment rate is higher than the state and national average, lack of funding from State Legislature (Including a 25% cut of previous year contribution from the Jackson County Delegation in 2013-2014 followed by another 25% cut in 2014- 2015).  SJHS Disadvantages – Need for increased student access to technology (although improving), and aging facilities (although well maintained). 15  Scottsboro Jr. High School Dedication  Near 100% Lesson Plan submission = PROFESSIONALISM!  Adoption and implementation of Book-Tracks program in 2013-2014 has saved the Jr. High over $1,700 for the 2014-2015 School Year.  Improved School-Parent communication through Twitter, Facebook, improved SJHS website participation, adoption of Remind Tool.  Implementation of BETA Club tutoring.  Implementation of Global Scholar student growth tracking program.  Implementation of new RtI plan (use of Global Scholar/Compass Learning integration which creates a specific learning path for each student).  Implementation of Project Lead the Way Pre-Engineering Program.
