2 Objectives Today’s session will focus on finding articles using Academic Search Complete (ASC), a general multi-discipline database. After this session you will be able to: Locate journal articles on a topic Perform searches yielding quality results Understand the concept of a peer reviewed/ scholarly journal Use SFX to find articles not available in ASC

46 Activity Instructions Using the research question assigned to your group, answer the following questions: 1.What keywords would you use to conduct your search? What different keywords combinations and synonyms might you use? 2.Conduct an advanced search in Academic Search Complete using your keywords. How many results did you get? 3.Narrow your initial search results two different ways, however you would like. Make a note of how you narrowed your search and why you chose that option.

What subject terms from this article might you use to search by? 7.Is this article available in full text? What format(s)? 8.Select an article not available in full text in Academic Search Complete.
