3.  A prediction is what you think will happen based upon the text, the author and background knowledge.  Prediction is an educated guess as to what will happen next.

4.  Your prediction will be proven by the story.  You are focusing on what will happen in the story  Prediction= answered at the end of the story

5.  As a reader, you can make predictions BEFORE you read  As a reader, you can also make predictions DURING reading.

6.  Use the title and ask yourself what the story will be about.  Ask yourself what is going to happen next in the story.  Ask yourself what else could happen in the story.

7.  What is happening in the story?  What is going to happen next in the story?  What clues have lead you to think that?  What else could happen?

10.  An inference is something that you conclude based partly on evidence and partly on your knowledge.  What I read + What I already know= What I infer.

11.  1. Your neighbors just drove away with their suitcases and skis.  A. Your neighbors are moving.  B. They are going on a vacation to the beach.  C. They are going on a vacation to the mountains.

12.  Your dad is in the yard with a shovel, rake, and hose.  What is he doing?

13.  A man put down $20 at the window. The women behind the window gave $6. The person next to him gave $7, but he gave it back to her. So, when they went inside, she bought him a large bag of popcorn.  Explain what is going on.
