4. ASPIRATIONs 1. Learn to articulate scholarly views about the world in which we live, and its history. In other words, we need to be able to talk about the world and its history in intelligent ways

5. ASPIRATIONs 2. Skillfully represent their knowledge in writing and speech. In other words, we need to be able to write and say what we mean. And it must be OUR work, not someone else’s.

6. ASPIRATIONs 3. Be prepared to participate, compete, and excel in a global economy. In other words, the world is changing. We need to be ready to meet tomorrow’s challenges.

7. ASPIRATIONs 4. Be inspired to grow academically and as a member of their community. In other words, when we become better students, we become better members of our community.

12. ASPIRATIONs 8. Discover the intrinsic value of each learning opportunity. In other words, we need to understand why this is important to us.

13. ASPIRATIONs 9. Take ownership of their own future. I can’t do it for you, and you can’t do it for me. The only person you are responsible for is you.
