Can a group work together and eat together but not have “unity”? Yes, unity is ONLY possibly when people have the same ▫Convictions ▫Values ▫Visions ▫Goals

Unity comes from God and is intended for all people What does this mean? ▫God desires us to be ONE

What makes family members the same and what makes them different? Similarities ▫Last name, nationality, personality traits, resemblance Differences ▫Talents, interests, temperaments

In the same way… All the Spirit’s gifts can be used for Church unity See 1 Corinthians 12:12-20 ▫Who unites us all in the one body? ▫How does Paul apply the many parts of the body to the Body of Christ? ▫Why are there so many different parts?

What is ecumenism? Ecumenism is the effort of the Holy Spirit guiding us and all members of the Church to unite with other Christians ▫Ecumenical refers to “the whole world” ▫We are called to use our gifts to be “ecumenical” ▫Be respectful but be faithful. ▫Be proud of and true to your faith while respecting the rights of others to worship according to their faith.
