3. Physical Change A change in the appearance of matter only. The identity of the matter DOES NOT CHANGE! Some of the physical properties of the matter are changed, but the identity of the matter stays the same.

4. PHYSICAL CHANGE HINTS Size change Shape change State change No new matter or substance

5. Chemical Change A change that produces NEW matter with properties that are different from those of the matter before the change took place. Two or more substances REACT to form one or more new substances. The identity of the matter changes.
