3 Different Christian views: –Nonresistance –Pacifism –Preventable war –Just war – just cause, just intention, last resort, limited objectives, proportionate means, formal declaration Modern Warfare Relationships

4 The Lord is a warrior Joshua 5:13-14 (p.170) God is not on either side – will we obey Him? Bible in Revelation – a final war against Jesus. Rev 16:16; 19:17-21.

5 Matt 5:6-12 (p.736) – Work, hunger, and suffer for peace and justice 5:21-26 – Deal with anger and conflict in godly ways. –Have peace with God and work for peace everywhere. Matt 23 – Speak out against sin and injustice. Matt 26:49-54 – Break the cycle of revenge through self-sacrifice.

6 Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. … Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
